Eccles. 9:9
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity,
which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy
portion in this life, and in thy labor which thou takest under the sun.

Hebrews 13:4
Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled:
but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Isaiah 34:16
Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail,
none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded,
and his spirit it hath gathered them.

1 Cor. 7:2
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife,
and let every woman have her own husband.

Psalm 145:16
Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

Peace in Marriage

Eph. 2:14
For he is our peace, who hath made both one,
and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Eph. 5:21
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Eph. 5:33
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself;
and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Col. 3:18-19
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

God did not take woman out of man’s feet for him to walk all over her.
He did not take woman out of a man’s head for her to lord over him either;
but He took her out of man’s rib to walk along side of him as a helpmate,
and from his left side next to his heart to love and cherish as Christ loved the Church.

The antonym of “obedience” is “resistance;” “submission” is the balancing factor.
Eph. 5:21 does not say, “Obey ye one another,” but “Submitting yourselves one to
another in the fear of God” so submission is not always precisely obedience.
It means: surrender or yield to; honor and respect; or humbling yourself before in obedience.  This I share because I have ministered to people who have divorced
because of a wrong interpretation of the teaching, “ Submission.” Men who have
been wounded through dictatorial or dominating mothers or some woman along
life’s pathway, have a tendency to put their wives under bondage of obedience
and do not recognize the damage they are doing to their
love relationship

For Singles, Divorced, or Surviving Mates:

1 Cor. 7:7
For I would that all men were even as I myself.
But every man hath his proper gift of God,
one after this manner, and another after that.

1 Cor. 9:4
Have we not power to eat and to drink?

1 Cor. 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Matthew 18:18
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:
and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

TEMPTATION

 Proverbs 25:28
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down,
and without walls.

1 Cor. 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrews 2:18
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted,
he is able to succor them that are tempted.

Hebrews 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

James 1:2-3
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

James 1:12-14
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

2 Peter 2:9
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations,
and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Proverbs 16:32
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

DIVORCE

Mt. 5:32

“… whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Mk 10:11-12

“…Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.  And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.”

Rom. 7:2-3

“For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.  So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adultress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adultress, though she be married to another man.”

I Cor. 7:11

“ But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife…”

I Cor 7:15

But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.” (not hell)

I Cor 7:27

“Art thou bound unto a wife? Seek not to be loosed.  Art thou loosed from a wife? Seek not a wife.”

I Cor 7:28

“But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned.  Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh; but I spare you.”

I Cor 7:39

“The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will;..”

(If marriage and divorce was before you were ‘born again’ and baptized in the Holy Spirit, then:)

  II Cor. 5:17

“Therefore if any man (or woman) be in Christ, he (or she) is a new creature: old things are passed away; BEHOLD ALL THINGS BECOME NEW.”

(REMEMBER: Your whole life, including your marriage and divorce is under the blood, never to be remembered any more by God, just as your worldly life in the flesh is under the blood.  Why hang the grave clothes of the ‘old man’ on the ‘new man’? Your whole past life is under the atonement and redeemed by the blood of Jesus.  You are a new creature in Christ Jesus!)

Isa. 43:18-19

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?…”
